Lebanon Resident Earns Lifetime Achievement Award Wayne Administrator Earns Lifetime Achievement Award New Jersey Author Earns Lifetime Achievement Award

New Jersey - May 2008 - Author, Publisher, and Administrator Susan Lanza, ACC, CALA, LNHA, of Lebanon, NJ, was recently awarded the Madison E. Weidner Life Achievement Award by the New Jersey Activities Professionals Association (NJAPA) for her ongoing commitment to therapeutic recreation in the long-term care setting.

As described by NJAPA, the purpose of this leadership award is to honor an individual who has a significant and profound effect, and who has given inspiration, motivation, direction and guidance to the activity profession.

Ms. Lanza, a graduate of Douglass College of Rutgers University, was nominated for the award by past and present colleagues, including those she currently works with at Llanfair House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wayne, where she has served as the Administrator for more than nine years. Llanfair House is a 180-bed long- and short-term care facility affiliated with the Saint Barnabas Health Care System.

Creativity is in my blood, exclaimed Ms. Lanza as she accepted the Award surrounded by family, friends, and colleagues. The cornerstones of the activities profession play an enormous role in all that I do and in all of my accomplishments both professionally and personally.

These accomplishments include authoring three books Essentials for the Activity Professional in Long-Term Care, Nurturing Nuggets for Dementia Caregivers, and Nurturing Nuggets for Nurses; developing and managing Buttonberry Books, her own publishing company; the establishment of the first THE FRONT PORCHSM state-certified dementia special care unit affiliated with the Saint Barnabas Health Care System; two international speaking engagements with the European Alzheimers Association; four national speaking events with the National Alzheimers Association; various television and radio appearances; and a nation-wide dementia education speaking tour with Cross Country Education, a national leader in educational products and services for the health care industry.

I can not express what this award means to me, described Ms. Lanza, pictured here (left) with ???????. It is such a privilege and honor to be recognized for something I value so tremendously, by people whom I admire and respect.
